Its a New Year...

Its a new year and so I have been toying around with the thought of starting a new blog and actually sticking with it. So, with the arrival of some calming snow this morning, awesome coffee in my mug and the Dropkick Murphy's in my headphones... here we go!

Not only did I decide to take a serious crack at maintaining a blog, I even switched platforms from wordpress to weebly. Hey they both start with "W"! I decided I needed a switch after recently reading a few hiking related blogs who use Weebly and I must say it is super easy! Hopefully this will make things easier for me to stay committed to updating the blog.

Okay, so we got that outta the way. Now what? Well the main pages are nearing completion and I have a lot of near gear that I am about to purchase thanks to my family for all the REI giftcards as well as the new gear that was purchased for Grace (7) and Gabby (4) for Christmas. Some how they got new sleeping bags, backpacks and headlamps and dear ole dad didn't get any actual gear yet! Even Mom get a new Columbia Omni-Heat Puffer and North Face Gloves! Hmmm. Well as you can imagine gear reviews till be coming on all of that stuff as soon as we test it all out.

This year I will hopefully be out and about more with the girls and the wife exploring the great outdoors and passing my Eagle Scout skills (don't laugh!) down to my lil ladies as well as living vicariously through some buds who will be hiking the AT this year. Will be posting funny stories, pics and whatever else they get into as the get into it along the hike north to Katahdin.

Here's to a fantastic and healthy new year to all of you! Enjoy your night and be safe out there!

Keep Hiking Forward!

So do you like Weebly?
Thinking of starting my own blog. Been Scoutmaster of Troop 516 in Woodridge IL for 9 months now and I can just now start pushing for more backpacking instead of the trailer camping that the troop has been doing. I want to share that journey with other and hopefully keep our troop on that path. It's just tough up here in No. Illinois to find places to backpack.
