Well we did it! I followed my own advice from the post I had just created a few days earlier and voila, we have a Little Guy! Little did I know that an opportunity would come along so quickly after writing about it. We made a nearly four hour drive to get to the RV dealer who had our 2015 Little Guy Silver Shadow that had recently come in on a trade. Fortunate for us, the dealership dealt in the much bigger more expensive RV's and weren't exactly aware of what they had on their hands. Essentially, we got an amazing deal. JOY!
We as a family are super stoked to get "it" out and make "it" ours. I spent about two hours this Sunday beginning to transition car camping cooking gear to the rear galley while Grace laid inside and watched tv while snuggled up in our double Teton Sports sleeping bag. I never thought our big double Teton Sports sleeping bag would look small, but when you lay it inside of 6 wide... wow! Thinking a bigger bag might be in order. We do have one problem... "It" needs a name. Our Jeep is named after my beloved and late Scoutmaster "George" who without him, I would not be an avid adventure-seeker, Eagle Scout or blogger. So help us name our new Little Guy, by commenting below. Stay tuned as we get "It" ready. Keep Teardrop'n Forward! Scott

I will admit this desire to have a teardrop is not new, however being serious about moving forward with purchasing a trailer is somewhat new. What can usually cause a rushed timeline on any purchase of big or small items is finding the right one... exactly the right one especially if it is a good deal. How many times has your significant other come home with something in hand and said... "Look what I got! and It was on sale!" I love it when beer is on sale. Mmmmmmm Beeeeeer!
We all review big purchases, cars, electronics and we do all sorts of inspections and checks when purchasing a new home. But when we find the right one online or you are scouring neighborhoods or the car lots on Sundays ( you do that too? ), and you find the right one and at the right price and you get that super excited sensation in your stomach, your heart races and you wish "they" were open right now to run the credit card, take a check or process a loan. Researching your big purchase is key to being happy with it when you finally do pull the trigger. Making a confident, well researched purchase ensures that you won't have buyers remorse or over pay for your desired item. I will admit that I have a habit (some may say a bad habit) of really focusing in a particular issue or purchase once I have decided on it. I did this when I knew I wanted to purchase my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (George) a few years back. Nightly, I would scour the car purchasing apps to see if any new or used Jeeps had come on the market. I would spend hours reviewing Jeeps, Jeep accessories and dealerships. Some may call this sick, I call it good clean fun! I find myself falling into this situation again. Before bed, opening up the IPad and browsing Teardrop Facebook groups, RVTrader and the like for that good deal that is too good to pass up. Hey, not many people have unlimited resources to make these kinds of purchases, so I along with most need the right situation, right price on the right teardrop to make this whole thing work. The moral of the story boys and girls is, you never know when you might find that right situation or the right price on the right teardrop, so you have too be ready! Just the other day, I had found the ultimate situation, on the exact teardrop we want for an amazing price. After doing some convincing here on the homestead, I was cleared for take-off to make the call to inquire about the teardrop and potential driving 3 hours to go and see it. Wouldn't you know, it sold literally the day before. UGH! Teardrops are very popular right now and certain trim packages are very hard to come by. Lesson learned boys and girls, do your homework, have the "chats" that are needed on the homestead now (right now! go! I'll wait).............. Good job! And keep on top of those resources you have found to find the right unit, It will pop up soon and you will be ready to make your purchase. Jeez, I hope I'm not giving my good advice to people near me who are competing for the next great teardrop deal DOH! Keep TearDrop'n Forward! Scott |
