Why we are hiking the Appalachian Trail:
My wife and I both retired this past year. We've been planning this AT hike for over a year now and talking about it for several. Like others we were first inspired by Bill Bryson's "A Walk In The Woods" We've talked about this. Why are we hiking the AT? We believe it will bring us even closer than we are. After fifteen years of marriage and raising six kids between us, a little alone time in the woods is something we both look forward to. Also for me I think the closest I have come to describing it would be akin to a palette cleansing. Breaking old habits. Forming new ones. Getting out of my ruts. An awakening.
