![]() Hell Hike and Raft as I have said before is going to be an epic and most amazing adventure. So, you have to document the heck out of it and in order to do that you need camera equipment. Well, camera equipment and other items require power. So to charge all of my devices (which I will post later in the week) I purchased the Goal Zero Nomad 13 Panel & Sherpa 50 Power Pack. Overkill some might say. But I see more uses for this baby then just for my backpacking and camping excursions. This unit gives you the capability to charge 110 with the extra power inverter and laptops if necessary. I intend to use this to charge the Canon DSLR battery, GoPro, IPod Shuffle and Phone. I have the potential to also daisy chain other members Goal Zero panels to the Sherpa 50 to decrease how long it takes to charge the unit for others to use if necessary. Stay tuned for the post trip review on how the Sherpa 50 and the panel worked. Keep Hiking Forward Scott What better piece of equipment could you have then a trail family? Eleven of your new best friends who bring a wealth of knowledge, a diverse adventuring background and experience to your table, what else could you ask for? For one of them to be a wine connoisseur? No problem, we got one in the family! One of the most exciting things for me about this trip is knowing that am automatically inheriting a trail family from day one. No development, no searching or wondering when the serendipitous moment might happen on trail and for the family to appear here. "La Familia" as we have been calling ourselves socially leading up to the trip sets ourselves up for an amazing collective and singular experience. I wouldn't have this trip happen any other way, and no store can offer the type intangibles that my new family will offer me over the course of this most epic adventure. These intangibles will ensure that this will be the adventure of a life time and I will have them to take for it in the end, not a bunch of actual tangible gear. Stay tuned as we continue to count down to Hell Hike and Raft as showcase other important items of gear for the trip. Keep Hiking Forward Scott ![]() Not your typical piece of backpacking gear, but this isn't your typical adventure. We intend to backpack half of the trip and white water raft the second half. In order to keep my camera (Canon T3i DSLR) dry, safe and impact free during the white water portion I wanted to ensure that my camera was safe and had an extra layer of hardened protection. Pelican is an amazing product. I have used their stuff for years for work and never had an issue and the product always stands up to taking a beating from shippers. I trust that my camera and my memory cards will stay dry and safe throughout the wettest portion of the trip so that I can take pictures and video throughtout the whole trip. Stay tuned for how it works! Keep Hiking Forward Scott ![]() Day fourteen's product is a sponsored product that each team member will receive to use while on Hell Hike and Raft, Hike Goo from Foot Kinetics. Use prior to lacing up and it promises to significantly limit the hot spots and nasty blisters that one tends to get especially on long hikes. I started using HikeGoo, a few years back after winning a tube of it from an online raffle. I love this stuff! Since using HikeGoo I have not succumbed to any nasty blisters and my hikes have been largely pain free in respect to foot hot spots. Available on Amazon and other fine online retailers, and worth every penny if you get to truly experience your hike pain and blister free. Check it out! Keep Hiking Forward! Scott ![]() Today marks just fifteen days until Hell Hike and Raft.
